It's the "talk of the town".
I have heard people are in the streets rejoicing and celebrating over Bin Laden's death.
I am thankful for our military and the intelligences for their hard work and perseverance in finding the man who planned out many attacks killing thousands of people here in America, and other soils. I am thankful to all of their families who sacrifice their loved ones time so our country can be free.
Though his death will never bring back loved ones lost, I am sure many are thankful "justice" has been done.
This is a historic event for America, which will go down in history.
But...
I also believe this is a time to be humbled.
Humbled? Yes, you read that correctly.
Osama was a terrible, wicked person. So am I. So are you.
I know! I KNOW!!! He killed thousands of people and we haven't!
So why am I placing others on the same level as Osama?
Let me ask you a few questions...
Have you ever cheated on a test? Looked upon a person in lust?
Have you ever gone to a movie on Sunday or to a ball game?
When you were young, or even now, not listened to and obeyed your parents?
Have you ever been so mad at someone you felt hatred in your heart?
Have you ever used God's name as a curse word?
We all have been guilty of each question I asked. These questions are based on the 10 Commandments from God's Word (Exodus 20:3-17).
I am guilty of not keeping these commandments. I have broken all 10. More than once.
I haven't killed thousands of people, but I have had bitterness in my heart.
Today, Osama Bin Laden is in hell. If the Holy Spirit had not changed my heart, and I died, I would be right there with him.
Why did he choose me and not Bin Laden? Nothing but grace.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is a gift from God; not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9
If it were not for the work of God in my life...His grace...it could be me who was out there plotting evil acts upon others.
It could be you.
I know some who read this, are not christians, yet you live a "good" life. You work hard, nice to others. Giving. Trustworthy. You even might go to church once in a while. OR every Sunday.
Yet you do not trust, believe and have faith alone in Christ. Some believe Jesus came to the earth and died on the cross, but is he your Lord? Is He your everything?
Our sin is so great. Everyone of us was born a sinner. We all were born capable of the evil acts of Osama Bin Laden...and worse.
Yet because of reasons not of our own understanding, Christ has shown us mercy. Even the unbelievers.
God has restrained us by His gracious hands and has kept us from being as wicked as we could be.
Just like Osama, we sin.
We will all die one day and go before God. We all deserve the wrath and curse of God.
Only if we truly repent, turn away from our sins, seek Christ, believe and trust in him... will the blood of the Lamb cover our sins and we will be welcomed into the heavens with our dear Lord.
For those of you who do not have Christ in your life, He is not Lord, Ruler of your life...you will also come before God, Creator of all things. You will be judged......just like Osama. Good works won't help you out.
"And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God...who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and the glory of His power" 1Thessalonians 1:7-9
I am truly humbled that I am a child of God. That He has so graciously kept me from being just like Bin Laden. I am humbled I am not getting what I deserve...the wrath and curse of God...eternal punishment in hell, not only physically, but even worse...without the grace, mercy and presence of God.
May we, on this historical day of the death of Osama Bin Laden, be mindful of the grace God has shown in our own lives and be eternally grateful...

Amen and amen. We deserve death, but God's grace and grace alone saves us. Wonderful post!
How often do we see the human side of things and totally forget the spiritual side. Thank you for this wonderful reminder of what my Saviour did for me.
I love you and miss you all. Waiting impatiently for June!!
Great post. I have been quite saddened to see Americans celebrating in the streets. That is what our enemies do and it reeks more of revenge than justice. Vengeance is mine saith the Lord. I was just talking with my husband about this the other night. The truth is...compared to Christ's perfect holiness...we are all like Osama Bin Laden. It is only through Christ's redemptive work that I am worth anything. I am thankful justice has been done. That was God's job and although our military carried it out, God's Sovereign hand moved in that situation to bring it about. But, there is still a soul in hell today. Instead of dancing in the streets, I would have loved to see people flocking to churches and thanking God for the work He has wrought in bringing down our enemies...and to always remember...there but by the grace of God go I.
What a thoughtful post Christine! I appreciate your boldness to proclaim TRUTH. You are right...we would be there with him in Hell if it were not for our precious Saviour!! Oh may it be that someone would read this and come to HIM in repentence...
Many blessings to you!
Camille
P.S. Happy Mother's Day!
